Why did I start my business?
All my life I've suffered from the SHINY OBJECT SYNDROME..so I was always looking for something or should I say some business to own
5 years ago I had just finished a real estate wholesale program where we tracked vacants, reviewed/filled out contracts, went to vacants and did repair estimates (ran numbers) it was awesome. I learned so much thanks to Jimmy Reed and my grandfather you cannot pull the wool over my eyes when it comes to REAL ESTATE...As a child we would often have to help my "Papa" as we called him to rehab or build some new house he purchased.
------>Fast forward to 2 years later I'm going through a separation and found myself head of household with A LOT of new responsibilities (Basically, BILLS!!!).....yup if you said bills. You guessed right.
Needless, to say the first year this happened I didn't have much money saved for a "rainy day" per se.
BUTTTT what did I have ...what did I have? thinking to myself. Ah! 401k. So needless to say I withdrew from my 401k, this is money for my RETIREMENT y 'all. I got hit with all kind of penalty/tax to access my OWN money... But I bit the bullet and started to rebuild my life.
Second year money running low but I'm not touching that 401k........I put the real estate aside and started juggling about 6 gigs (from writing resumes, selling jewelry, doing door dash, apartment mystery shopping. Oh I forgot about the retail store, At Home. Honestly,
I just wanted to work there for the discounts to help furnish my new place... After my shifts I never could shop because I was so tireddd... LOL.
Let's not forget my family LOVES to travel and explore new things in new states..so yes I'm am always thinking about ways to create capital.
One day during my shift at the store "At Home", I hated that job because we were always short staffed and breaks were non existent if you didn't ask... BUT any who it was where I meet my business partner so I never tell people I hated that job anymore... because it literally saved my life and my sense of home decor fashion.
COMMERCIAL BREAK: They have the cutest things.,, OKAY OKAY I'll get on with it.
Any way she invited me numerous times to meet with her director who was looking for some great people in Arlington, TX unfortunately, I was never able to make it due to working, working and working... The good old rat race. Troy and I kept in touch and she invited me to attend a financial services seminar at UNT Dallas where the CEO Patrick Bet-David was speaking. I didn't want to turn her down yet again even though it was a 45 min commute and raining hard that day may I add. I hate driving in the rain to places I'm unfamiliar with. I went though because I had given my word. The diverse culture and ages of everyone attending was like a breathe of fresh air. AND everybody in attendance was might-TEE sharp that day.
After the event I made time and a commitment to myself to see meet with the director and see what this company is reallllly all about. I mean Pat had a Blue Bentley out front. I had to find out what these people did..I instantly fell in love with the business model. The first thing that intrigued me in all honesty was the income able to be generated and residual income. Secondly, they do not fabricate. When I went in the field with my trainer and saw the great work they did for families.
I WAS SOLD... I've always been a natural born educator and I wanted to be a teacher when I was younger. But whew these new aged children... I just CANNOT. They don't lissen (yes, I spelled it that way on purpose- That's my business "TabithaBrown voice"
3 YEARS LATER AND FOREVER MY CRUSADE CONTINUES ....
LIFE INSURANCE FOREVER, THE GREAT WAY
But the thing that makes me stay honestly is.
.
.
.
.
I have been able to get some of my TIME back... Time with my family.. my children. My children are able to go to the office with me. See mom being a BO$$. I still have my 9-5 and I have my business as a independent life insurance agent. Just 2 GIGS for this lady... All by disciplining myself enough to study for my license, while working multiple gigs and pass my exam.
Through the years your why continuously changes based on lessons from experiences
I'll end by telling you what I heard Patrick Bet-David say that day & it changed my life.
